Dr. Umesh Nagare, MS, FRCS (UK), FRCS (Tr. & Orth) is a fellow of Royal college of Surgeons of England, Certified specialist in Hip and Knee reconstruction and revision joint replacement. He performs primary and revision total knee replacement, total hip replacement. Dr. Nagare also performs partial knee replacement and minimally invasive total joint surgery.
He went to UK for orthopaedic training in September 2002. He initially worked at Queen’s Medical Center, Nottingham for Sport Medicine for one year. He received Queen’s award and even prestigious common wealth scholarship. He obtained MS Sports Medicine degree from University of Nottingham, UK in 2003.
He completed his residency training at South-West Thames Orthopaedic Specialist Registrar Training Programme at St. Georges’ Hospital London. He completed MRCS in General Surgery from Royal College of Surgeons (RCS) of England at London, UK in 2004 and then completed FRCS in Trauma & Orthopaedics from Royal College of Surgeons of England.
During his 9-year training in UK, Dr. Nagare received extensive training in all aspects of Joint Replacement Surgery. Following residency rotation, he completed two fellowships: the first in primary and revision joint replacement of the hip and knee at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Trust, Stanmore; the second in knee & hip surgery and sports medicine at the Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals NHS Trust, Brighton. He trained with senior surgeons like Mr. John Skinner, Mr. Marc Patterson, Mr. Edward Parnell, Mr. Sandeep Chauhan and many others. He got training in Computer guided ‘Navigation GPS’ joint replacement.
He attended medical school at B. J. Medical College and Sassoon Hospital in Pune in 1998 and completed his Orthopaedic post-graduate training from the same institution in 2002. Subsequently, he was an Orthopaedic lecturer at YCR Hospital and MIMSR Medical College in Latur till September 2002.
He is a frequent lecturer at many training programs in joint replacement surgery. He has set up first Cadaveric training wet lab for west zone in India. He has presented and taught at national and international meetings on topics including multiple disorders of the knee and hip, lower extremity trauma and reconstruction, total hip and knee replacement and treatment of complex severe varus and valgus knee deformity.
He is one of the examiners for MRCS and FRCS exams conducted by Royal College of Surgeons of England, UK all over world. He is also certified instructor for ATLS and RCS Surgical training courses and is lecturing as faculty on topics related to ATLS & RCS throughout national and international level training courses.
