ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

The department of Acupuncture & Oriental Medicine is a new initiative undertaken by Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital & Research Centre to provide holistic alternative medical care to the patients.

The department provides oriental medicine procedures like acupuncture, cupping, electrotherapy, aromatherapy, Tuina and moxibustion along with ongoing treatments in the hospital. The integration of oriental medicine with conventional medicine is an emerging novel approach to bring forth holistic healing for various chronic conditions.

A very exhaustive evidence base with vigorous testing worldwide confirms Oriental medicine & acupuncture to be very effective in the treatment of neurological conditions, pain management, mood disorders, emotional trauma, lifestyle related conditions, sleep disorders, metabolic disorders, gynaecological issues, fertility support, post-operative pain, treating side effects of cancer therapies and general well-being. This modality uses various combinations of procedures with the aim to balance the internal energy of the body.

The popularity of acupuncture in all western and south-east Asian countries is attributed to its holistic approach that is painless, chemical-free, safe and effective. It is also recommended by the World Health Organisation.

An integrative approach which combines conventional medical treatments with alternative holistic (chemical-free) medicine is proven to synergistically heal patients faster with a better prognosis, with no cross-reactions and with lesser chance of long term dependence on medication.
